Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
About the book:
Cinder is back and trying to break out of prison--even though she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive if she does--in this second installment from Marissa Meyer. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother, or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana. An NPR Best Book of 2013
I loved, loved, loved this book! This is definitely the most unique take on the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood that I have ever come across. I think you will agree. I thought the first book in the Lunar Chronicles was good, but this was EVEN better! And how often does that happen? The characters of Scarlet and Wolf are introduced and you can just feel the chemistry between them from the very start. The character of Captain Carswell Thorn is also introduced - you'll learn to love him as well. This book had me gripped from start to finish and was filled with action, adventure and a bit of romance. I can't wait to get my hands on Cress, the third book in the Lunar Chronicles. Marissa Meyer creates a rich world that is so captivating and descriptive that you will feel like you are really there.
