About the Book:  Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue never sees them--until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks to her. His name is Gansey, a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble. But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can't entirely explain. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul whose emotions range from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher who notices many things but says very little. For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She doesn't believe in true love, and never thought this would be a problem. But as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she's not so sure anymore.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood
there, wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever
dared to dream before . . .
— Edgar Allan Poe

A dreamer is one who can only find his way by
moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the
dawn before the rest of the world.
— Oscar Wilde

Meet The Boys

Gansey — he refuses to go by the family name “Dick” — has spent years searching for Glendower, a long-dead Welsh king. His quest brings him to Henrietta, Virginia, and to the prestigious Aglionby Academy, where he becomes a student there — a Raven Boy.

Adam Parrish

Adam, born and bred in Henrietta, attends Aglionby Academy only by virtue of scholarship money and hard work. Complicated and studious, he resents the hedonistic culture of Aglionby, even as he is Gansey’s best friend.

Ronan Lynch

Dangerous as a shark and about as friendly, Ronan is one of three Lynch brothers at Aglionby Academy — but is the only one who runs with Gansey and Adam. He’s honest and fearless, even if he’s not kind, and like the rest of the Raven Boys, he keeps his own secrets close.
